Credentialed Evaluator (CE) Designation: Application Guidelines Are Changing Soon

After a review of the credentialing process by the Credentialing Board, CES is updating the requirements for the Credentialed Evaluator (CE) Designation.

To give people who are currently working on their applications an opportunity to submit their application under the original requirements, the new requirements will come into effect September 1, 2024. Any CE application submitted by August 31, 2024, at 11:59 pm PT will be assessed using the current requirements.

There will be a blackout period from September 1 to 30, 2024, during which no CE applications can be submitted. (For anyone whose CE application period ends during the blackout period who does not submit their application by August 31, a grace period will be granted to allow them to submit their application in October 2024 under the new requirements.)

Any application that is submitted or re-submitted on October 1, 2024, or later will be assessed according to the new requirements.

What’s changing?

Applicants will need:

  • a minimum of 3 years of full-time equivalent evaluation-related work experience within the last 10 years (instead of 2 years);
  • to pass competencies 1.1 and 1.3; and
  • complete a new project and reference/sponsor form.

In addition, there are new criteria to facilitate the recognition of foreign graduate degrees that are recognized for the purposes of a CE application, additional clarity around a few competencies, and an expanded definition of what it means to be a CE.

All of the details about the changes can be found in the updated CE Applicant Guide.

If you have any questions, please contact vicepresident@evaluationcanada.ca.

In addition, there will be a Professional Designation Program booth and a CE Application Q&A session at the upcoming CES National Conference in Fredericton, NB, from May 5 to 8, where current and potential applicants can ask questions.
