We are delighted to present the 2024 Service to CES Award to Marla Steinberg, PhD, CE, in recognition of her exceptional commitment, visionary leadership and substantial contributions to CES.
Marla's CES involvement began in British Columbia when she joined that Chapter as a member-at-large in 2015. Since then, she has made significant contributions to the provincial evaluation community, such as leading a project to review and refresh the Chapter’s website, and contributing to the success of the CES-BC Pro Bono Evaluation Initiative launched in April 2017.
Marla joined the National CES Board as the e-Institute Director in 2017. Under her leadership, the e-Institute has grown into a critical piece of learning infrastructure for CES, one of which we are all very proud.
While serving on the Board, she dove into the whole organization, not just the e-Institute. She steered and supported many of our pivotal projects, such as the massive overhaul of our IT systems to create a centralized system – what we know as our association management system (AMS). Today, our AMS provides us with a streamlined member experience, better access to our information and improved procedures, all through our website.
In addition, Marla has been an active mentor through the CES Mentoring Initiative for many years. In 2022 and 2023, she spearheaded the review of the Initiative and chaired a rejuvenation of the initiative that included not only the transition to the new AMS system but also the development of new Mentoring Initiative protocols and guidance materials.
In all her endeavours, Marla has always focused on what members want and need from CES, and demonstrated CES values and ethics throughout. CES is a better organization because of her service and contribution.
Congratulations to Marla Steinberg!
