April 26: Open Webinar on the Review of the Government of Canada Policy on Results

On April 26, 2023 (13:00-14:30 EST), the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBCS), the Planning and Performance Exchange (PPX), the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES), and the CES’ National Capital Chapter will be co-hosting a webinar on the review of the Treasury Board’s 2016 Policy on Results.

Participation is free. Register here!

The webinar will offer an overview of the review (framed by a discussion paper) and allow feedback on issues covered in the review as well as broader results-based management. The following panel will offer insights and a Q&A session will follow (you can submit your questions anonymously ahead of time, until April 20):

  • Ritu Banerjee, Executive Director, Results Division, TBCS
  • Andrealisa Belzer, CE, President, CES
  • Shelley Borys, CE, Fellow, CES
  • Steve Montague, CE, Vice-President, PPX
  • Tom Wileman, Treasurer, PPX

For reference, the “TBS Policy on Results sets out the fundamental requirements for Canadian federal departmental accountability for performance information and evaluation, while highlighting the importance of results in management and expenditure decision making, as well as public reporting” (quoted from the policy). It took effect on July 1, 2016. It replaced the following Treasury Board policies: the 2019 Policy on Evaluation (which was evaluated in 2015), the 2007 Policy on Reporting of Federal Institutions and Corporate Interests to TBS, and the 2010 Policy on Management, Resources and Results Structures.
