Qualitative Data Analysis

This course is designed for evaluators who want to strengthen their qualitative analysis and reporting skills. Grounded in the competencies outlined by the Canadian Evaluation Society, the course covers commonly used qualitative analytic frameworks, four distinct approaches to qualitative analysis, computer-assisted qualitative analysis, and data visualization for qualitative findings.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Identify and apply multiple qualitative analysis approaches;
  • Use spreadsheet best practices and some features of Excel to ensure data quality assurance and quality control; and
  • Select from and use various descriptive statistics to be able to calculate values and determine conclusions.

Estimated time to complete: 15 - 20 hours

Prerequisites: Ideal for practitioners with a foundational understanding of evaluation and qualitative methods who are looking to expand their analytical toolkit.
