Introducing IAEA and the 2026 Conference About the IAEA Founded in 1975, the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) is a global non-profit, non-governmental association of educational assessment organizations. It provides a worldwide forum for all those engaged in educational assessment, in all its forms, in elementary and/or secondary schools, colleges and universities, or the workplace. Its diverse membership includes assessment and research organizations, examining bodies, college and university departments, and governmental agencies from more than 50 countries.
The IAEA's general purpose is to improve the quality of education by assisting educational agencies in developing and appropriately applying educational assessment techniques. IAEA believes this is best achieved through international co-operation and is committed to facilitating the development of closer ties among the relevant agencies and individuals worldwide. The IAEA believes that such international co-operation can help participants learn from one another while respecting their cultural autonomy.

The IAEA has consultative status with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to achieve mutual goals.

About the 2026 Conference
Over the past 50 years, the IAEA Annual Conference has been held in countries including Zambia, the USA, Jamaica, Mexico, the UK, South Africa, Singapore, Australia, and many others worldwide. For the first time, the IAEA Annual Conference, its 51st, will be held in Canada. It is hosted by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO), the provincial assessment agency of the Ontario Ministry of Education, and the supporting partner organization, Vretta.
This global event will provide an in-person venue for sharing experiences, advancing research, enhancing professional collaboration, and building partnerships with examining bodies, research organizations, colleges and universities, and government agencies worldwide.
