Title: Navigating Ethical Waters: Applying CES Ethics Guidance in Evaluation Practice

Abstract: In an era where evaluators are increasingly confronted with complex ethical issues, the application of robust ethical frameworks is essential to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in evaluation practice.

This workshop aims to explore the newly established CES Guidance for Ethical Evaluation Practice, providing an interactive forum for evaluators to engage with core professional values and reflect on their ethical decision-making processes, identifying instances where conflicts may arise among these core values, as well as the personal and contextual factors that influence ethical decision-making. The workshop will provide practical insights into critically applying CES's ethical framework throughout all phases of evaluation—from preparation to reporting.

Participants will work through real-world examples of ethical issues, considering questions such as: How do we balance competing interests? What are the implications of our decisions for various stakeholders? How do we ensure honesty and transparency in challenging contexts? Through this workshop, attendees will enhance their capacity to navigate ethical complexities in evaluation and empower their commitment to CES’s core professional values. This interactive engagement will also contribute to a collective dialogue on fostering a culture of ethical integrity within the evaluation community.
