ICCI at CES C2026: Consulting-Focused Events

Are you planning to attend the Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) C2026 conference in Edmonton from May 24 to 27?

If so, the Independent Consulting Community of Interest (ICCI) has prepared several consulting- focused opportunities for independent evaluators and those who are consulting curious.

  • ICCI social gathering
  • ICCI thematic breakfast
  • ICCI leading edge panel
  • Consulting-related presentations tagged in the conference program and app

We hope you will join us to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and explore practical approaches for navigating today’s evolving evaluation landscape.

1. ICCI Social Gathering

Monday, May 25 at 5:00 PM (Edmonton time)

Location: Share Restaurant & Lobby Lounge, The Westin Edmonton

Come one, come all! ICCI is hosting an informal in-person gathering for anyone interested in independent evaluation consulting. Many of us have connected virtually through ICCI events over the years, and this will be a great opportunity to meet face-to-face, reconnect with colleagues, and welcome new folks into the community. Attendees are welcome to purchase their own drink or snack from the venue while mingling.

2. ICCI Thematic Breakfast

Tuesday, May 26, 8:00–9:00 AM

Title: Independent Evaluation Consultants: Strategies for Thriving in Complexity

Facilitators: Roman Katsnelson and Clare Levin

Location: Ballroom

Join ICCI for a welcoming and interactive thematic breakfast exploring how independent consultants can adapt, collaborate, and thrive in increasingly complex environments. This session is open to consultants and anyone interested in learning more about evaluation consulting.

3. ICCI Leading Edge Panel

Tuesday, May 26, 4:00–5:30 PM

Title: Juggling Independence and Integrity: Tools and Approaches for Independent Consultants in an Unpredictable Era

Panelists: Paul Bakker, Shelby Corley, Elizabeth Dyke, Brian Hoessler, Clare Levin, Allison Mullaly-Ring

Location: Turner Valley

This panel will bring together experienced independent consultants from across Canada to share practical strategies, tools, and approaches for working effectively and ethically in times of complexity and change. Attendees can expect concrete examples and actionable insights relevant to today’s consulting environment.

4. Looking for More Consulting-Related Sessions?

ICCI has partnered with CES to add a “Consulting” tag to the conference program and PheedLoop app, making it easier for delegates to identify presentations related to evaluation consulting.

We have identified 11 consulting-related sessions featured throughout the conference.

To our knowledge, C2026 features more consulting-related presentations than any previous CES annual conference. This reflects both the central role that consulting plays within the field of evaluation and the growing strength of ICCI as a relatively new community of interest working to elevate attention to this important area of evaluation practice.

We look forward to connecting with you in Edmonton!
