I'd like to join my colleagues in their recognition of how John in many ways has influenced the the direction of evaluation internationally as well as in Canada. I've known John since the 1070s, working with him in a variety of capacities. He was a giant in the field – but as others have observed, mild and soft spoken, always ready to listen. While one can point to many specific areas where he has made a contribution, to me arguably his greatest contribution has been as an advocate for practical approaches to evaluation. and in turn for improving public policy and services. I still find in hard to accept that John is no longer with us. He was a great person – and also a wonderful human being. Thank you John for everything.
