A new tool is now available for assessing the risks one can encounter in traveling overseas as an evaluator, consultant, cooperant, or volunteer. The professional risks – which are self-assessed – can include kidnapping, assault, illness, theft, conflicts, road travel, or burnout from work.
Entitled "Duty of Care Assessment" (available in English only), this tool was developed by the Canadian Association of International Development Professionals, in collaboration with CANADEM.
The tool is available online, free of charge. It can be used from the point of view of an organization or of an individual.
