Evaluation Year (Eval Year) is a few weeks away and there will be no lack of events to further the year’s aim of bringing people together to promote the value of evaluation and evidence-based decision making!
Declared on September 30, 2013 at the UNDP National Evaluation Capacities (NEC) conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the International Year of Evaluation (a.k.a. EvalYear) is intended to be a “a catalyst for important conversations and thinking, at international, regional, national, and sub-national level, on the role of monitoring and evaluation in good governance for equitable and sustainable human development.”
A number of evaluation societies and similar organizations will be hosting conferences and other events around the globe during 2015, including:
- Evaluation Week organized by the Institute of Applied Manpower Research (IAMR) and Planning Commission of India to be held from January 19-23, 2015 in Delhi, India
- Middle East and North Africa Evaluators Network’s EvalMENA Conference to be held in Cairo, Egypt, from February 23-26, 2015
- Latin-American and Caribbean Monitoring, Evaluation and Systematization Network (RELAC) 4th International Conference to be held in Lima, Peru, from March 9-13, 2015
- United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) evaluation week to be held in New York, USA, from March 9-13, 2015
- UK Evaluation Society Conference to be held in London, UK on May 13 and 14, 2015
- Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) conference to be held in Montreal, Canada, from May 24-27, 2015 under the theme "Evaluation for the world we want"
- Swiss Evaluation Society (SEVAL-GEN) evaluation conference on September 3 and 4, 2015
- Australasian Evaluation Society (AES) conference to be held in Melbourne, Australia, in September 2015 (conference website)
- International Programme Evaluation Network (IPEN) conference to be held in the last week of September 2015
- National Evaluation Capacities conference and International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS) Global Assembly to be held in Bangkok, Thailand, in October 2015
- American Evaluation Association (AEA) conference to be held in Chicago, USA, from November 7-15, 2015
- Global Evaluation Week to be held from November 30 to December 4, 2015 at the Parliament of Nepal in Kathmandu
