It is with great sadness that CES Manitoba Chapter Executive is writing to inform the evaluation community that Barry Warrack, long-time CES member, has passed away. The Manitoba Chapter cannot say enough about Barry’s countless contributions to the field of evaluation. Although his accomplishments were many, Barry will be remembered most as a valued colleague and friend. It is no exaggeration that Barry embodied the true generosity of a colleague and mentor, always there to lend a hand or provide advice and guidance no matter what opportunity or challenge our chapter faced. He served on the Manitoba Chapter executive for so many years, that all who are currently involved do not know when he joined, but it is at least 20 years! During that time, Barry has held many positions on the Manitoba Executive, as well as on the CES National Board. Simply put, he has been a force for CES, especially in Manitoba, helping organize national conferences in 1997 and 2007, and providing countless workshops for CES Manitoba members. Through Barry’s long-standing contributions, he has become a pillar in establishing and expanding the reach of CES in Manitoba with his efforts being recognized in 2013 when he was honoured with the Service to CES Award. His passing leaves us deeply saddened, as he is simply irreplaceable as a member of the Manitoba Chapter.
