Make a difference in brain health in Ontario
The Ontario Brain Institute (OBI) accelerates discovery and innovation to benefit patients and the economy, for generations to come. We are pioneering a ‘team science’ approach that brings together researchers, clinicians, industry, patients, and their advocates to foster discovery and deliver innovative treatments and services that improve the lives of those living with brain disorders.
OBI launched a new program, GEEK (Growing Expertise in Evaluation and Knowledge Translation), that provides funding, evaluation expertise, and support to community-based programs and services for people living with brain disorders. GEEK supports the sustainability, scale or spread of these programs, to improve the quality and quantity of evidence-based care in the community. The GEEK program will allocate up to $200,000 per year. For more information please visit: www.braininstitute.ca/geek.
Applicants to the GEEK program will be asked to submit an application written in collaboration with an evaluator. We are looking for evaluators across Ontario to help support the development of these evaluation plans for program applicants, with the opportunity to implement the plan if the application is successful.
Evaluators will be compensated up to $3000 to work with program applicants to develop an evaluation plan for their application. We are particularly interested in hearing from evaluators who want to work in close collaboration with non-profits to support evaluation capacity building in these organizations. Successful applications will be granted funding to implement the proposed plan, including the evaluation plan.
Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of work experience and proven track record in conducting program evaluation.
  • Experience developing and writing evaluation plans.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing evaluation frameworks, quantitative and qualitative evaluation, and conducting analysis of data.
  • Availability to meet with the non-profit organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with non-profits and community-based organizations.
  • Experience in evaluation capacity building.
  • Interest in teaching and guiding evaluation.
  • Knowledge of or interest in learning about brain and/or mental health.
  • Experience with evaluation spread or scale of a program.
