Evaluation And Performance Measurement Frameworks: Getting To The Next Level

In this intermediate-level session, the presenters will discuss some of the common challenges associated with evaluation and performance measurement frameworks, and strategies to avoid them. The first hour will focus on how to develop meaningful logic models and evaluation questions. Key assumptions for evaluation budget development purposes will also be provided. During the second hour, challenges and best practices associated with performance measurement frameworks will be presented, including the development of realistic indicators and data collection tools, and how to pilot these tools. There are no specific prerequisites to attend this session, but it is best suited for participants with some experience in evaluation.

FACILITATORS:
SIMON ROY
Simon Roy, senior associate of Goss Gilroy Inc., has conducted over 250 evaluations in a wide range of areas, including economic development, human resources, health and education, among others. Simon is part-time professor at Ottawa University, where he teaches program evaluation at the post-graduate level. He has designed and facilitated many professional development workshops for CES and CES-NL in a wide range of topics. He has a PhD in Sociology and is a credentialed evaluator.
LEAH SIMPKINS
Leah Simpkins (PhD), a Consultant Manager at Goss Gilroy Inc., has extensive experience in social science research, including the development, implementation and analysis of large, multi-phase, national studies. Since joining GGI in 2017, Leah has gained comprehensive knowledge and experience in program evaluation design and implementation. Leah is also a certified Change Management Professional (Prosci) who has extensive experience in research and analysis of issues related to organizational change, workplace culture and well-being. In the past few years, Leah has designed and delivered learning experiences in her areas of expertise that range from one-day workshops to multi-week capacity development initiatives. This includes co- facilitation of the four-day Essential Skills Series training course for the CES-NCC in 2018.
