CES/CESEF CASE COMPETITION

The Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) and Canadian Evaluation Society Educational Fund Link (CESEF) jointly manage the Case Competition. This competition has its own Web site which is accessible from this link Link.

Teams of three to five students compete in the analysis of an evaluation case file that is available in English and French. Students from all disciplines and all levels of post-secondary study are welcome to participate. There is no limit to the number of teams from a given institution.

In a preliminary competition, all teams receive on the same day the key to an evaluation case file that has been hidden on the Web. They have five hours to prepare an analysis then submit it by e-mail for judging by a bilingual panel of experts. The three best teams are invited to participate in a final round, held at the Canadan Evaluation Society's annual conference, in which they must analyse a new case and present findings and recommendations before a live audience.

The team that makes the best presentation takes possession of the Case Competition Trophy for a year, receives prizes and is given visibility in various publications.

CES/CESEF STUDENT EXCELLENCE ADVANCING EVALUATION KNOWLEDGE AWARD

The Canadian Evaluation Society (CES) and Canadian Evaluation Society Educational Fund Link (CESEF) are pleased to launch a new joint initiative — our Student Excellence advancing Evaluation Knowledge (SEEK) Award. The Award is intended to recognize exemplar and diverse student contributions to the advancement of evaluation theory and/or practice. It builds on the previous Student Paper Contest, now inviting a broader array of exceptional evaluation-related projects conducted by students in Canadian post-secondary institutions. The first SEEK intake is March 31, 2010. Candidates must be nominated by their professor.

SEEK Award program details and related application PDF/nomination PDF forms are available now on the CES and CESEF websites. Any pressing questions about this exciting new program can be directed to programs@evaluation-education.org mail.
